Massage Therapy – RMT

Our RMT Calgary therapists are educated to a standard of 2200 hours so if your insurance company reimburses massage therapy you shouldn’t have any problems submitting your receipt!

When booking a massage, please include information in the comments section regarding issues that may need addressing (i.e. carpal tunnel, pain in a particular area, referral pain into legs etc.).  Or maybe you just want to concentrate on relaxing!  Pregnancy massage can also be booked under the preferred time of the massage times below, but please enter in the comments section when booking how many weeks pregnant you are.  Providing more information helps us to prepare an rough idea of a treatment plan for your session.

Calgary massage studios are everywhere throughout SE Calgary, which means there are lots of places to choose from.  Your health benefits cover it, but why should you pay the outrageous prices when you can get a fabulous massage by a Registered Massage Therapist with 2200 hours in a comfortable, home based setting for much less.  Our massage therapists are fully trained with RMT 2200 hours in our Calgary studio so you don’t have to worry about being reimbursed through your health benefits for your massage.

Direct Billing

Our therapist Helena is the only therapist currently accepting direct billing clients, but forms must be sent prior to your appointment (see below).  If you book with our other therapists, they are happy to provide a receipt so you can make an insurance claim immediately after your treatment.  We can only provide direct bill for the following insurers:

and email to them to bookings@gelousspa.ca prior to your appointment.  If you do not send the forms in prior to your massage (at the very latest being the day before your appointment) we will not be able to process it as a direct bill until your next visit, but you can pay for your massage and be reimbursed the first time.

Direct Bill Process

  1. Prior to booking, please ensure you do not require a dr. note for a massage as many insurance companies require this on an annual basis and will not provide coverage without this.  Your Massage Therapist doesn’t need to see this, it is for your insurance provider’s information only.
  2. Book an appointment online with Helena (she is our only therapist who can currently accept direct billing) and in the comments section please say “direct bill with the name of your insurer”
  3. Complete the forms http://www.gelousspa.ca/printable-forms/ and email to bookings@gelousspa.ca prior to your appointment (no later than the day before your appointment)
  4. Complete the consent form at http://www.gelousspa.ca/massage-consent-form/ which automatically returns back to us
  5. At your appointment, Helena will direct bill your insurance.

Please note: there is an additional $5.00 fee for direct bill processing.

Gelous Spa offers affordable massage, so that all you have to do is get yourself booked in and let us take care of the rest.

Our pregnancy massages are performed on a special pregnancy pillow for maximum comfort. Myofascial Cupping Massage

This is an effective treatment for those clients who want the release of tight fascia and muscles.  Cupping is a simple method of pulling “stuck,” stagnant, and congealed blood and fluids from different areas and releasing it. Plastic cups are placed on the skin and a vacuum is created through suction, drawing up the underlying tissues. Cupping increases range of motion, releases tight and painful muscles and increases blood circulation.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body that focuses on the relevant muscles after a brief consultation. This type of treatment has a number of benefits both physical, physiological and psychological. Complimentary cupping is also included.  Possible side effects after this type of massage is tenderness or stiffness for 1 to 2 days after treatment.

A  massage during pregnancy focuses on the mom to be and the amazing changes that her body goes through during her experience of pregnancy. Massage has many benefits such as improving circulation, enhancing the function of muscles and joints, general body tone, and relieving mental and physical fatigue.

Besides massage feeling simply amazing during pregnancy, there are so many other benefits for the mother to be and her unborn baby. Many studies show that massage reduces stress hormones in the body and the mother’s physical and emotional well-being is improved through touch as she adapts to her new body image.
